Henry founded Hornblower Business Brokers Ltd in October 2006 having seen the gap in the market for a hands-on broker able to help business owners sell their business and realise the value of their asset. In attempting to acquire an engineering business, he found that many business owners were not prepared for the types of questions buyers ask and they were not helped by the introduction agencies. Henry is passionate about helping owners throughout the process of selling a business, offering sound realistic advice and achieving a successful sale. Based in the South West, Henry splits his time between the Bristol and London offices. Previous to starting Hornblower, Henry spent over 14 years in the automotive product development and manufacturing industry and is skilled in all aspects of business planning, product/service valuation, business development and marketing. Henry is a qualified Chartered Engineer with the Institution of Mechanical Engineers.

Mark has over 25 years senior management and board level experience in a range of sectors including IT, Retail, Venue Management and Recruitment. Mark is experienced in all aspects of business strategy and his main areas of accountability have been business development, finance and the implementation of change to enable business growth.

  Derick is started his career in the motor industry, quickly working his way up to a management position within Mercedes Benz. The entrepreneurial bug bit and he went on to start and run a number of successful businesses, including a pine furniture retail and export company. He is also a keen investor in property. Derick has worked in both South Africa and the UK in the business broker field. He is experienced in the valuing, marketing and selling of businesses, and strongly believes in a professional service that not only gives sound business advice, but fair market appraisals of businesses, ensuring a successful sale within a reasonable time frame. Sian has extensive experience in helping owners of owner managed businesses to exit and retire. Sian’s sale mandates often represent ideal bolt-on acquisition opportunities for trade buyers as well as opportunities for start-up entrepreneurs to gain a head start. Sian started her career in marketing for the business-to-business sector, working for a major systems integrator on client-side marketing for about 8 years. She then moved to work agency-side and worked for agencies such as Saatchi & Saatchi and Ogilvy, where she managed major projects, direct marketing campaigns, brand identity and web production for blue chip clients including BT, Cap Gemini, Scottish and Southern Energy, American Express, National Express Group and The Art Fund.

  Rolf is a German business engineer, putting together deals in the SME sector especially in German spoken countries and internationally. Rolf has over 20 years of experience in business sales and acquisitions, where he focuses on strategic M&A deals in the engineering and technology sectors.  Acting for the owners of SME’s, he has a long track record of negotiating with global companies and arranging management buy-in/buy-out deals (MBI/MBO). He is a recognised trainer for “marketing and selling” at the Chamber of Commerce in Würzburg / Schweinfurt, Germany and an honorary member of their audit committee.   Based in Dublin, Julian has extensive experience in Ireland, the UK and Internationally in the sale of companies to local and International buyers. He has over thirty years’ experience working with top ten accounting firms as a Corporate Finance Partner and has expertise in business sales and acquisitions, valuations, Due Diligence and advising companies on the best route to market their company for sale. He also has vast experience managing a sale process from planning, going to market and staying with the process to the end to ensure maximum value is achieved. Julian’s role is to further develop the Hornblower presence in Ireland and bring Irish companies for sale to Irish, UK and International markets.

Storm heads up Hornblower’s research and marketing activities, managing the marketing of our business sale mandates and organising our series of seminars and workshops for business owners, as well as providing executive assistant support to the team.

Storm has been working in design and management, as well as business administration and operations for over 13 years and has lived and worked in Europe, New Zealand and South Africa, acquiring invaluable global business experience.

She has extensive experience in project/events management, marketing, design and social media as well as  management of various design teams and loves to bring that creative flair to all aspects of her work.

Peter Dawson Peter Dawson Dublin office Valuation and Sale Readiness Advisor
  Peter joined the Hornblower team in 2017 as part of our joint venture with Leahy O’Riordan in Dublin. Peter is the principle point of contact for our clients in Ireland and will offer clear advice on valuations, tax planning and readiness for sale. He works hand in hand with our business sale consultants in the UK who manage the sale of the business on the international market. Peter qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Russell Brennan Keane in 1997, becoming a Fellow of the Institute in 2007. Following qualification, Peter worked for the aircraft leasing division of major Japanese trading house and in the treasury division of a Turkish conglomerate and in 2003 joined Leahy O’Riordan to return to public practice. Peter became an Associate of the Irish Taxation Institute in 2007 and is highly experienced in providing business advice on development & strategy, wealth management, compliance and taxation. He has also handled numerous corporate finance assignments, including the preparation of valuations and securing finance from lending institutions.

  Amber is our lead valuations analyst preparing the data and accounts analysis for both our initial valuations for prospective clients and our full business valuation reports. As a CIMA qualified accountant with over 15 years post-qualified experience gained working for AXA Life Insurance and a large UK based FMCG retailer, Amber brings a wealth of expertise in financial modelling, business case presentation for key decision makers and deep dive analysis. She certainly has an eye for detail which enables us to provide accurate and realistic valuations for business owners who are contemplating the sale of their business.
Ed Hill Ed Hill Bristol Office Research Manager
Ed joined Hornblower in July 2022. His primary role is to support the business sale and acquisition consultants by researching potential buyers for the businesses that Hornblower that is mandated to sell. He also keeps an eye on the Mergers and Acquisitions market as a whole. Ed is an analytical thinker who enjoys problem solving and working with data. His background is in digital marketing where he worked for two large agencies in London managing online advertising campaigns using specialised computer software.
